The Sheffield & Hallamshire Girls Development League was formed at the beginning of the 2003/04 season. Following the huge increase in the popularity of girls football, the Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA, under the guidance of Julie Callaghan decided to create a local girls football league. In its second season, the league was made up of two under 10 divisions, four under 12 divisions, three under 14 divisions, and one under 16 division. The league was aimed at girls who had little or no previous experience of competitive football, hence the word development in the original title. We are now a well established League and as a result of this we have changed our name to the Sheffield & Hallamshire Girls County League. |
